Gospel of Mar Marqos: - Chapter 8

During those days there was a large crowd of people that had nothing to eat, and he called his disciples, saying to them:

I have compassion for the crowd, for look, for three days that have been with me they have had nothing to eat,

and if they are instructed to go to their homes to fast, they will faint along the way, because some of them have come from a long distance.

Then his talmidim asked: How does one satisfy all of them with bread here in the desert?

And he said: How many loaves do you have? And they replied: Seven.

Then he instructed the crowd to sit on the ground. And taking the seven loaves, he blessed them, broke the bread and gave them to his talmidim to distribute them, and they served the crowd.

And there were also a few fishes, and he blessed them also instructed them that serve (the crowd), [and after they consumed the food, they were satisfied*]

And [after the crowd had eaten] they picked up the pieces amounting to seven baskets full.

And the men who had eaten were about four thousand. And he sent them away.

Straight-way he entered into the boat with his talmidim, and they came to the region called Dalmanutha.

And leaving the Pharisees came and began to dispute with him, demanding a sign from heaven in order to test him,

and sighing, he said to them: Why does this generation* require a sign? Truly I say to you, that a sign will not be given to this generation.

And he left them in that place, leaving in the boat in order to go to the other side*.

And the talmidim had forgotten* to bring bread along with them, and only a small piece of leaven was found in the boat,

and Mar-Yah Yeshua* taught them saying: Look, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.

And they were discussing this saying among themselves and they were thinking to themselves: This is because we have no bread.

But Yeshua knew what they were thinking, and he said to them: Why do you think that you have no bread? Do you still not know or understand this? Is your heart still hardened?

You have eyes but you do not see? You have ears but you do not hear? Do you not recall?

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets were filled with the pieces which were picked up? They replied to him saying: Twelve.

And then he said to them: When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets were filled with the pieces which were picked up? And they replied saying: Seven.

Then he said to them: How is it that, after all of this, you still do not understand?

Now when they arrived at Bethsaida, they brought to him a blind man, and were earnestly seeking for Yeshua to touch the man.

Then he took the hand of the blind man and took him outside of the village, and spat in his eyes; he then placed His hand upon him and said to him: What is it that you see?

And looking around, (the man) said to him, I see men as if they were trees walking about.

And He placed his hands on his eyes again, and the man was healed, and he was able to see clearly.

And He sent him to his home, and instructed him saying: Do not enter into the village, nor speak of this to anyone in the village.

Then Yeshua and his talmidim came to the villages of Caesarea Philippi, and on the path he asked his talmidim, saying: Who do men say I am?

Then they said to him: Some say that you are Yokhanan the Baptiser, while others say that you are Eliyahu*, and still others, that you are one of the prophets.

Yeshua said to them: And who do you say that I am? Shimon Keipha replied, saying to him: You are Mshikha*, the Son of the Living God.

And he instructed that, for the time being, they must not speak about it to no one.

And began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer much, and that he would be rejected by the zakanim*, the chief priests and soferim*, and that he would be given over to death and that on the third day he would be resurrected.

And he was speaking of this openly. Then Shimon Keipha began to rebuke him.

But He turned about, and looking at his talmidim, rebuked Keipha, saying: Leave from before me, adversary, because you are not thinking on the things which are from God, but of those things which are of men.

And Yeshua called out to the crowds, along with his talmidim, saying to them: All those who wish to come after me, must deny himself and take up his cross and come after me,

because anyone who wants to save his soul will lose it, but anyone who loses his soul on account of me and my Gospel, shall have it saved.

For, what will a man gain if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?

Or what will a man trade for his soul?

If there is anyone who is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will look at him with shame when he comes in the glory of His Father along with his holy angels.
